LCA in practice
LCA in practice: When documentation becomes the key to responsible packaging
At Re-bag, we work strategically with LCA, documentation and certifications, helping companies meet future requirements through transparency across the entire value chain.
What is an LCA - and why does it matter?
LCA stands for Life Cycle Assessment. It is a method used to map the total environmental impact of a product. From raw materials and production to transport, use and end-of-life.
An LCA provides a complete picture of how a product affects the environment throughout its lifetime. For companies, this means access to data and a solid foundation for making informed decisions about materials, suppliers and processes.
Why Re-bag works with LCA
At Re-bag, we see ESG as part of our DNA. We strive for full transparency so our customers understand the opportunities and requirements related to their packaging and products – and how these align with applicable ESG principles.
We believe that documentation is the path to credibility. When our customers place orders with us, they should be able to see the real, documented environmental impact.
That is why we conduct LCA analyses for most of the products we sell, giving our customers access to validated data on energy consumption, materials and CO₂ emissions. This makes it possible to document the environmental profile of packaging on a factual basis.
For many of our customers, LCA data is an integral part of ESG reporting and forms the basis for internal procurement policies. LCA data is also used in Digital Product Passports, where data on materials and CO₂ must be traceable and verifiable.

Force Technology: Independent data with precision and credibility
To ensure that our LCA analyses are based on a solid and independent foundation, Re-bag collaborates with Force Technology, one of Denmark’s seven approved Technological Service Institutes (GTS).
Force Technology provides the data we use to calculate the environmental impact of products, including energy and material consumption as well as CO₂ emissions across the entire lifecycle. Their work follows ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards, ensuring that the methods we use meet internationally recognised requirements for accuracy and traceability.

How companies can use LCA reporting
LCA is not just an analytical tool. It is a strategic decision-making foundation. Companies use LCA data to document the environmental impact of packaging in ESG and annual reports, compare suppliers and materials based on data, optimise product design and reduce CO₂ emissions, and prepare for the EU Digital Product Passport (DPP).
